Ride from Stow to Wawa Saturday at 6:00am
I'm going to be heading out to Wachusett using the Climb to the Foothills route (http://crw.org/cgi-bin/cues2htm.pl?id=288), and adding a 17 mile loop to hit the mountain. Based on my GPS from last week's loop, should total around 6000 feet of climbing, for a total of around 90 miles (I might take a few short cuts back in Harvard). There are other dump-off points along the way if people want to get back faster.
We can meet at Shaw's parking lot in Stow if anyone is interested. I think Mullen is in. We won't be going fast, but the goal is steady zone 2-3 work (minimum stops).

Tentative. 6:00 am sounds really early right now.

Sounds good .
Your z 2-3 pace = my z 3-4+
I hope to hang w/ you guys for 30-35 miles , then will most likely head back netting a 60-70 mile ride : )
I will prob get dropped on Green street , if so , I will ride some random route thereafter.
D
BTW the Gate to the top of Wawa is open

Sounds like fun, but I was hoping to ride the Lancaster course. I was thinking of starting a ride from Harvard Center.

I've done the Climb to the Foothills route last weekend. I have ridden on Rte 62 to Wachusett and done the race course loop. So technically yes, but not all at the same time.

Re: Ride from Stow to Wawa Saturday at 6:00am
I'm flexible. I could ride tomorrow or Sunday. I'll leave it to the group in terms of whether people want to ride tomorrow and get wet, or ride Sunday (with less of a chance to get wet).
What's the group thought?

Rain I don't mind. But, there weather info is saying thunderstorms. The forecast for Sunday is at 6:00am is 61F and sunny. Seems like a pretty easy choice for me. I'm voting to delay to Sunday morning.
Re: Ride from Stow to Wawa Saturday at 6:00am
I'm in for sunday. Having spent most of my life in the pi**ing rain I'm more than happy to wait a day and ride in the sun.

Bummer !
I was looking forward to a 0600 Saturday ride .
80 % chance of rain - has been wrong before
I am still interested in riding Saturday 0600 longish ride as long as no t- storms.
will ck weather again at 5:30 ..
D
Edit : just noticed Ian's thread for a 0600 ride.. May join that rain ride : )
According to the forcast is might be raining 0600- 1000 then T- storms
wanna get 40- 60 miles in .. NOT on the rollers !

Re: Ride from Stow to Wawa Saturday at 6:00am
Great ride today. My legs were feeling it at the end. Here are my totals for the ride from my Garmin (starting and ending at my house):
Miles: 83.1
Total Time: 4:35:37
Avg Speed: 18.1 mph
Max Speed: 46.3 mph (Wheee!)
Total Ascent: 7087 feet
Not a bad day's work. Perhaps again in three weeks after the races.

Did I mention that Len is a big chain ring FREAK! Someone put a race number on that guy for Fitchburg.

Re: Ride from Stow to Wawa Saturday at 6:00am
The year I did ok at Fitchburg, I was on a group ride up the mountain. I dropped everyone (I don't know how) on mile hill road. I figured I'd keep hammering on the road and then wait at the ranger station, when all of a sudden this guy I hadn't seen before goes flying by me... in the big ring!
Rich told me later on that it was Len. I thought Turner and I were pedal mashers. He was pushing about 25 rpm in his 53-15
