define gravel: you can do it on a roadbike with 25's or you need a gravel bike. Also, if I do it I know I would be dropped and that's ok.

I guess technically it's doable, but you're going to want wider tires with tread meant for dirt or you won't be happy. And then there's gearing: typical 34 - 28 gearing with 25mm road tires will make you VERY unhappy.JeremyC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 3:34 pmGravel or CX bikecarlshimer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 2:40 pm define gravel: you can do it on a roadbike with 25's or you need a gravel bike. There are definitely gravel routes that you could ride a road bike on. This isn't one of them. There are several class VI roads that are short but pretty gnarly. You'd probably break your bike or your face or both. Plus we descend at mach speed and you'd be left for dead...KTeves wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 4:37 pmI guess technically it's doable, but you're going to want wider tires with tread meant for dirt or you won't be happy. Estimated average speed? I need to determine if I can squeeze this in.

I'll be there

I assume there will be no place to refill water?

Historically, there has NOT been a water stop. You should bring everything you need....
Re: Sat. 6/26 Townsend Gravel route 8am clip in
Correct, no water. 15mph pace should put us at 3:30
