Saturday 8:45am long ride
Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
60 oxford drive. Street parking is fine
Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Pat asked. But 7+ hours in the saddle and a 7:30 roll-out is a no-go. I've learned from my mistakes

Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Why can't I find this ride on the companion app?
Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Sorry, can't make this one, flying out to California on Saturday to see Tyler. Of course it will be colder out there than here the week I go.
Somebody take some pictures we can post.

Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Wow! I count 15 people, nice! Might be a record for a winter group ride, at least from my place. With a group this big, with it being a no drop ride, and with a desire to all stay friends here's a few key points:
We will do a full regroup at the end of each "segment". Not a rest stop, just a regroup. We'll roll when the last rider arrives. Apologies last rider but you're probably gonna get tired There will be an "actual" rest stop / refuel in Harrisville.
By my count we have all 5 USAC categories represented, so just remember that one man's Endurance pace is another man's Tempo. If you fall in the latter you will likely be thrashed at the end of this "endurance" ride -- apologies but it's just physiology. If you're worried just stay off the front and don't contest the "segments" at all. No one will call you out, everybody wins when we don't have to limp home as a group. Which brings up another point -- please please please everyone load up the course or know how to get home if it comes to that. I'm likely the only one that knows the roads and there is only one of me so it will be problematic if we need to split for some reason.
We should be able to ride 2 abreast on most of the roads as it's a pretty quiet route.
I'll call out each segment/regroup.
Feel free to arrive early, use the bathroom, etc. Mi casa su casa.
You can park on both sides of the road, no problem there.

What a great ride today. Chris I thought you managed the group well and the regrouping was pretty much as advertised for the most part.

9 simultaneous flat tires followed by an alien abduction.
Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
It's never bad, just today was extra good aside from the crashes. Big group, awesome weather, good route, felt good today.

Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
tough day for me. Felt like a very heavy crash.
Broken collarbone and crushed helmet. Hope to be back on the bike soon.
Thanks for all the help getting me off the road!

Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Yup, I think I’ve had contact with all the crashees. Ron hope it heals quickly. Don and Ben hope nothing lingers too long.
Like Rasputitsa and Vermont Overland have registration limits we may have to cap Franklinkill reg at 10 riders.
Thanks Brian, the one time the regrouping got bungled was for 2 reasons, one was that there was no clear ending to the segment and the other was that I pulled the ripcord on that one and just cruised it thinking y’all would be waiting at the top of the 4 minute climb. Instead the grupetto had to chase for a loong way. So kinda my fault. It will also help the more people ride the route the less I’ll need to patrol both the front and back simultaneously

Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Or said differently whenever we have a group of 18 we’ll need someone to step up and co-lead. I miss Busick
Re: Saturday 8:45am long ride
Agreed about the group size. Initially it didn't seem that bad but two groups would have made more sense. As always though, thanks for hosting.
Ron clearly "wins" with the broken collarbone (and various other bruises) but good to hear no concussion/head issues.
Tough first MRC ride for Ben and hopefully the thumb heals up.
And, for those that didn't hear, not only did Don mess up his shoulder (no breaks however) and a minor bike issue but got rear ended on the way home - only minor bumper damage (the Hyundai other hand..)
Oh, and btw Pare, you're prediction of stats back on page 1 was uncanny - my final figures:
Avg Power: 179
NP: 237
Avg Speed: 18.7
