Secret Squirrel CX

Post by cbusick »

Raced SS. Beat a couple nemisisesses, or is that nemisi?
I'd do this race again.
Any race where they have a "buy 1 beer get a free beer to hand up to a thirsty SS racer special" is a good race in my book.
"Hey Minuteman racer looks like you need a beer!" was the best heckle I've heard in a while, but I'm not sure an Oatmeal Stout was the best option for me at the top of the run-up when I was red-lined.
There was a long power stretch, but a lot of ups downs and turns in the sand/pine needle forest that made it challenging. At least three places where the wheels left the ground.
I forgot how much SS hurts. Somehow I went into it thinking it would be fun. I was a little under-geared (50X24 on the RXS belt drive) which cost me on the power section, but helped on the multitude of steep dirt climbs.

Is CX ever fun? Although beer hand ups are fun. And heckling is fun. So I guess 2 funs > 1 not-so-fun. Sorry I digress....
